What happened
Bharatiya Janata Party won again, comfortably, though its total seat count slipped somewhat.
The BJP won 117 of the 182 seats on offer, a landslide result.
That was 25 seats more than it needed for a majority.
Its nearest rival, the Indian National Congress, followed with 59 seats.
What changed
BJP held on, but gave up some ground it had won last time.
Its own seat count slipped from 127 to 117.
34 of the seats that changed hands swung from the BJP to the INC, out of 70 statewide.
The BJP has now won 4 elections in the state in a row.
Notable numbers
A few numbers from that election stand out.
The closest race: Jamjodhpur, Gujarat was decided by just 17 votes — the narrowest margin, how far ahead the winner finished, in votes, over whoever came second, anywhere in the state that year.
At the other extreme, Shaher Kotda, Gujarat was won by a margin of 85.5% of the vote.
Dhrangadhra, Gujarat recorded the highest turnout — the share of registered voters who actually cast a ballot — of any seat that year, at 73.9%.
Porbandar, Gujarat drew the most crowded ballot in the state, with 15 candidates standing.
