A record majority
What happened
Indian National Congress was swept from office in a landslide, as its rival surged to the biggest win in the state's history.
The Bharatiya Janata Party won 57 of the 70 seats.
That left it 21 seats clear of the majority mark.
The outgoing INC collapsed to just 11 seats.
What changed
The scale of the shift also shows up seat by seat.
Of the 70 constituencies compared to the last election, 36 changed which party held them.
The single biggest movement was seats flipping straight from the INC to the BJP, 25 of them.
Notable numbers
A few numbers from the count stand out on their own.
The tightest finish anywhere: Jageshwar, Uttarakhand was decided by just 399 votes, the smallest margin — how far ahead the winner finished, in votes, over whoever came second — of any seat that year.
At the other extreme, Hardwar, Uttarakhand was the most one-sided contest, won by a margin of 38.4% of the vote over the runner-up.
The best turnout of the year was in Laksar, Uttarakhand, where about 81.9% of registered voters turned out to cast a ballot.
Across the state, 50,426 votes went to NOTA — "None of the Above," a ballot option letting voters formally reject every candidate on offer — 1.0% of all votes cast.

Uttarakhand's regional party also came back together this election, after splitting into two rival factions the time before.
