Congress extends its winning streak
What happened
Indian National Congress won again, extending its hold on power with no real challenge from any rival.
The INC won 145 of the 184 seats on offer, a landslide result.
That was 52 seats more than it needed for a majority.
Its nearest rival, the Independent, followed with 11 seats.
What changed
This extended the ruling party's own winning streak in the state to a new high, with no change in government.
This was the INC's 5th straight win in the state, a run no other party has matched.
More of the state's registered voters cast a ballot than ever before, with turnout reaching 55.9% this time, its highest point so far in the state's history.
Notable numbers
A few numbers from that election stand out.
The closest race: Sheo, Rajasthan was decided by just 9 votes, the narrowest margin — how far ahead the winner finished, in votes, over whoever came second — anywhere in the state that year.
At the other extreme, Uniara, Rajasthan was won by a margin of 77.0% of the vote.
Turnout was highest in Jayal, Rajasthan, where 83.4% of registered voters cast a ballot.
1 seat was decided as an unopposed return — a seat where only one candidate stood, so no vote was needed to decide it.
