Congress won again, with an even bigger seat haul than before.

The Indian National Congress won 43 of the 60 seats on offer, a landslide by any measure.

That was 12 seats more than the 31-seat mark needed for a majority.

Its closest rival was a bloc of Independent candidates, who won 12 seats between them.

This extended a run of consecutive wins for the same party, now stretching back several elections.

INC has now won 3 elections in a row in the territory.

Turnout — the share of registered voters who actually cast a ballot — also climbed, up +11.3 pp from the previous election.

That was the highest turnout yet in the state's own history to that point.

A few numbers from the results stand out.

The tightest race was in Khonsa East, Arunachal Pradesh, decided by a margin — how far ahead the winner finished, in votes, over whoever came second — of just 29 votes.

At the other end, Tuting-Yinkgkiong, Arunachal Pradesh saw the widest margin of the night, with the winner ahead by 60.6% of the vote.

Turnout peaked in Lumla, Arunachal Pradesh, at 92.7%.

Its statewide vote share — the slice of all ballots cast that went to one party or candidate — crossed the halfway mark, at 50.5%.

By this point, the state's political landscape had settled into a clear pattern.

The same party had now led Arunachal Pradesh through 3 elections running.
