Indian National Congress won again, comfortably, in this assembly election.

The INC won 18 of the 30 seats — a landslide, past the 16-seat majority mark.

Its nearest rival, the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak, won just 8 seats.

INC held on for a second election in a row, though it appears on this ballot under a different name than it did last time.

That was down slightly from the 20 the Indian National Congress (Urs) had won under its earlier name — still enough for a landslide.

A few numbers from that election stand out.

The tightest race was Pernem, Goa, decided by a margin — how far ahead the winner finished, in votes, over whoever came second — of just 16 votes.

Navelim, Goa had the widest margin of the night, with the winner ahead by 42.2% of the vote — measured as a share of the vote rather than in votes.

Mandrem, Goa posted the best turnout of any seat — the share of registered voters who actually cast a ballot — at 77.3%.

Daman, Goa was the territory's biggest electorate, with 25,296 registered voters, and also drew the most candidates of any seat, 18 in all.

This turned out to be the last assembly election held while the territory was still a union territory.
