Sikkim Krantikari Morcha won a second term in a landslide, as its main rival was reduced to almost no seats.

The SKM took 31 of the 32 seats.

The Sikkim Democratic Front was left with just 1 — a collapse from where it had stood.

The party that had only just cleared a majority last time now dominates the assembly outright.

It went from 17 seats to 31.

That is a gain of 14 seats in a single election.

Most of that swing came directly from its rival: 15 constituencies flipped from the SDF to the SKM.

A few numbers from that election stand out.

The tightest finish: Lachen Mangan (Bl), Sikkim was decided by just 851 votes — the narrowest margin, how far ahead the winner finished over whoever came second, anywhere in the state that year.

At the other extreme, Djongu (Bl), Sikkim was won by a margin of 54.0% of the vote.

Djongu (Bl), Sikkim saw the highest turnout in the state that year — the share of registered voters who actually cast a ballot — at 88.2%.

Chujachen, Sikkim was the state's largest constituency by registered voters, with 18,749 names on the rolls.

This extended a run of consecutive wins for SKM.

It had now won 2 elections in a row.
