How many Lok Sabha seats would Jharkhand have after delimitation?

Jharkhand has 14 Lok Sabha seats today. Under the 2026 Bill scenario it would have 21 seats (7 more seats than today); under 543 by population, 15 seats (1 more seat than today).

The Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill was voted down on 17 April 2026, 298 to 230, and no Delimitation Commission exists. Last checked 14 October 2026.

People: the Registrar General’s projection for 1 March 2026. Electors: the 2024 roll. Both are divided by the number of seats.

How these numbers are made

Seats per state: in the by-population scenarios the seats are shared by the Registrar General’s projection for 1 March 2026, by largest remainder, with at least one seat each; states under six million people and all Union territories keep today’s seats, as Article 81 allows. The 2026 Bill scenario applies the government’s +50% offer: it multiplies every state’s and territory’s seats by 1.5; where that leaves a half, the halves are settled by largest remainder, within the states and within the Union territories separately.

The map: today’s assembly seats are grouped into new Lok Sabha seats, grown over neighbouring assembly seats and preferring the same district, until each seat holds about the same number of electors. The Commission aimed to keep every seat within ±10% of the state’s average; here that is a target, not a promise: across the 31 states with an assembly map, 771 of 2,987 redrawn seats (the four redrawn scenarios counted together) end up more than 10 percent from it, and the Delimitation seat simulator page shows each seat’s real figure. Cities are drawn coarsely. The lines are a simulation, not a proposal.

Everything here is a simulation on today’s data: not a prediction of what Parliament will decide, not the Commission’s work, and not a forecast for any party.
